Cross-Country Skiing

The picturesque beauty of the Rocky Mountains isn’t just reserved for those on a chairlift. Crested Butte and the surrounding mountains have countless miles of untamed snowfields and mountainside that are only accessible by cross-country skis or snowshoes. The Crested Butte Nordic Center maintains nearly 30 miles of groomed trails and offers a complete range of rental packages for classic and skate skiing, as well as snowshoeing and sledding. The Nordic Center also offers expert instruction and guided tours to accommodate novice riders to advanced skiers.

Need to brush up on the basics? Or maybe you’d like experience the thrill of mountain time trials. Crested Butte Mountain Resort is in its third season of the comprehensive mountain sports program, designed to assist a wide variety of athletes, from young children just learning to navigate the hills, to driven student athletes looking to aggressively tackle the terrain. The Mountain Sports Team offers a variety of options, from weekend clinics to simple half day lessons. Terrain Parks and Pipe

For those who are looking for a more adrenaline-boosting adventure on the mountain, Crested Butte provides three terrain parks filled with rails, tabletops, and ramps. A dedicated staff of operators and park technicians maintain each feature, ensuring the most exciting, and more importantly, the safest experience possible. Crested Butte also boasts a 400-foot long, 17-foot deep halfpipe. This “superpipe with a view” is the ultimate challenge for daring riders.
